MTC Aftermarket E-commerce Directory

Aftermarket suppliers are bombarded with multiple initiatives from the customer base to conduct e-commmerce, which includes EDI networks, EDI translation and specific e-commerce applications. The MTC's Aftermarket E-commerce Directory is a spreadsheet of these initiatives as required by dozens of top customers and managed/implemented by third party service providers. The Directory is in the final stages of build-out and will be posted for MTC manufacturer members by the end of the second quarter 2010.

2009 Webinar Series on Data Management

The Council partnered with two leading data management solutions providers to deliver practical information on managing data across a supplier's enterprise and with trading partners. Pricedex Software (Data Governance Across the Enterprise) and Edgenet (Data Management ROI)

IT Outsourcing Trends
The MTC partnered with ABeam Consulting, a Council affiliate member, to identify the current trends in IT Outsourcing and how members should utilize this information within their operations. Are aftermarket supplies increasing or decreasing their outsource spend during the current economic environment? ABeam facilitated a focus group of members, facilitated discussions during the 2008 Fall Conference, conducted a quantitative survey and currently is conducting qualitative interviews. An AASA Special Report was published in 2009 with the results of this research.

Customer E-commerce Matrix
The MTC Customer E-commerce Matrix is an online tool that enables members to identify the e-commerce standards and technologies required by all major aftermarket customers (data receivers). It includes product information (PIES), catalog (AAIA legacy and ACES), Web Services (IPO), EDI and delivery method information. Manufacturers can obtain the requirements of their top customers or prospects and can view versions, fields, documents and sunset dates. Adoption levels of standards and specific fields are also included.

MIS Council members have free access to the Matrix, while other suppliers can subscribe for an annual fee. Click here to learn more about and to access the Matrix.

Internal Data Management
Aftermarket and heavy duty parts suppliers are challenged to synchronize e-commerce data with customers, but they can simplify the process by first developing better internal data management (IDM) practices. The MIS Council’s IDM Program provides information to help suppliers identify best practices for implementing and sustaining a strategic effort to get their internal data in order. Successful IDM helps executives make better real-time business decisions, reduce costs associated with redundant and erroneous data management and improve e-commerce relations with customers. Following are the major elements of the program:
